In sublimation no liquid state is observed. This is a reversible process. Ammonium chloride is the molecule which on heating changes directly into gaseous state. When vapours of Ammonium chloride collected then solid Ammonium chloride is formed.

The observation of Sublimation of Ammonium chloride is:-

  • The process of changing of a solid directly into vapours on heating and changing - vapours into solid on cooling is called Sublimation.
  • Ammonium chloride sublimes on heating. This means that solid Ammonium chloride (solid-state) gets converted directly into vapours or gas on heating.
  • There is no liquid state in the process of sublimation.
  • The solid substance of Ammonium chloride that undergoes the process of sublimation is called Sublime.
  • The ammonium chloride solid obtained by cooling the vapour of the solid is called Sublimate.

  • ON HEATING

Ammonium Chloride (solid) ---->Ammonium Chloride (vapour)

  • ON COOLING

Ammonium Chloride (vapour)-----> Ammonium chloride (solid)
