With a vow to save environment the youngsters of the city planted saplings in the city. The mega plantation drive was carried out at Geetanjali College to observe the World Tree Plantation Day here on Sunday.

The college students along with the faculty members to observe the D-day planted saplings in the college campus. During the drive, the youngsters planted saplings at the road side and in grounds.

During the programme the students planted the saplings of Neem, Ashoka and other tress at the campus. Principal of the college Manjula Sharma said, “We organised the event to observe the World Tree Plantation Day and also to contribute our bit in the Go clean Go green initiative. As it is our responsibility to contribute our bit in keeping our city clean and beautiful.”

She further said, “. With a motive to let the young children also know about the importance of planting the saplings, we had planted the saplings in college. This will remain as a lifetime memory with the students.” While addressing the programme, she then explained the importance of plants in life of an individual and society. The plantation drive began at 8 am wherein the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) and students’ group planted the saplings. The students and the faculty members of the college planted as many as 50 saplings at the college. During the plantation, the students and faculty members took a vow of planting more trees and saving the environment.
