Flame test for sodium is easy, because it’s yellow color is so intense that you have to actually eliminate sodium from a sample BEFORE using flame testing for other metals.
To test for sodium, you just have to get your platinum wire ring and heat it a few times until white-hot with your Bunsen burner (cleaning it with hydrochloric acid in between heatings), then dip it in your solution and put it in the flame. You will see the characteristic yellow color.
