As per some high ranking officials, high denomination notes, especially Rs 2000 notes makes circulation of black money easier, and encourages corruption. Just a 100 note bundle of Rs 2000 currency can seamlessly transport Rs 200,000 for any cause, and if the cause if corrupt, then it becomes easier.
Rs 100 notes, as well as other currency such as Rs 10 and 5 are not being withdrawn or banned, said the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The bank has issued a clarification after several reports claimed that Rs 100, 10 and 5 notes would soon go out of circulation.
