  • FD is the median in the given figure.

To Find :- observe the adjoining figure write the name of median .

Solution :-

Median :-

  • A line segment joining a vertex to the midpoint of the opposite side .
  • Since a triangle has 3 vertex , a triangle has 3 medians from each vertex .

from image we can see that, EFG is a triangle .

given that,

→ ED = DG

So,

→ Point D is the mid point of side EG of triangle EFG .

and,

→ Point F is a vertex .

as we can see that,

  • Line segment FD is from the vertex and meets opposite side EG at the mid point D .

Therefore, we can conclude that, FD is the median of triangle EFG .

Extra knowledge :-

→ All three medians of a triangle intersect each other at the centroid .

→ Centroid divides each median in ratio 2 : 1 .

→ Each median of a triangle divides the triangle into two smaller triangles and both have equal area. { in image ar(∆EFD) = ar(∆GFD) }
