Answer:

a) The process that is being tested is RESPIRATION.

b) the result of the activity is that the Lime water in the test tube turns MILKY. When we exhale the air out, it is CO2, which can be clearly proved by the Experiment when the Lime water turns MILKY.

The questions are answered below-

(a) The process that is being tested in the activity is- Exhalation process during respiration.

  • Exhalation is the process in which carbon dioxide is released outside the body through the nose.
  • The activity is conducted to prove that carbon dioxide is released in the exhalation process during respiration.

(b) The result of the activity is- Solution turns milky in the test tube containing lime water.

  • When air is breathed out from the nose in a test tube containing water, there will be no chemical change due to no chemical reaction.
  • However, when air is breathed out from the nose in a test tube containing lime water, the chemical reaction occurs which turns the lime water milky. This proves that carbon dioxide is released during the exhalation process. This is because when lime water reacts with carbon dioxide, it forms calcium carbonate which is milky in colour.
