When resistors are in parallel, resistance R is given by 1/R= 1/R1+1/R2

Whwn in series, its R1+R2

The two resistors offering 4ohm and 12 ohm are in parallel. Thus,1/R= 1/4+1/12 =4/12=1/3

R=3ohm

7ohm resistor is in series. Thus, total resistance= 3+7 =

10 ohm
