Starch and Iodine

Explanation:

When iodine reacts with potato it turns blue

  • In test tube A saliva is present along with potato;saliva has salivary amylase enzyme which dissolves starch into simple sugars hence it will not show blue color due to lack of starch,it will be slightly yellowish in the test tube
  • In test tube B only potato is present, amylose in starch is responsible for the formation of a deep blue color in the presence of iodine hence blue color appears in the test tube
