Explanation:

In order to produce energy, breakdown of food, along with the use of oxygen, is required. This breakdown of food is termed as respiration.

Breathing rate refers to the breaths a person takes in a minute.

When a person is doing an activity that needs a lot of energy, cells need more oxygen to supply energy for the task. This oxygen is obtained by breathing faster. Now with a higher breathing rate, cells can produce the required energy.

On the other hand, when a person is doing nothing, he/she does not need much energy. Therefore, the demand for oxygen does not go up and hence the person has a normal breathing rate.

Answer:

The first picture depicts a person running while the second shows a person sitting easily on a chair, doing no exercise.

The running person's breathing rate will be higher than the sitting person's. This is because when the person runs, the demand for oxygen is high hence the breathing rate is on an increase. But when the person is at rest, he does not need additional oxygen to carry out his task of relaxing. Hence, the breathing rate in both the pictures will be different.
