The leaf which is green in colour has chlorophyll in it and it performs photosynthesis. The leaf which is purple may not have chlorophyll and do not perform photosynthesis.

But some different shaded leaves may have chlorophyll. To test this add starch to leaf after boiling it .

90% the purple leaf does not contains chlorophyll.
