Given that,

Your mother pressing a lump of dough on a plate.

We know that,

Pressure :

Pressure is equal to the force upon area.

In mathematically form,

P=\dfrac{F}{A}

Where, P = pressure

F = force

A = area

When your mother press a lump of dough on plate then change in shape of the dough due to pressure.

When your mother applied force on the dough then the shape of the dough changed and compressed. The dough still remains in a state of rest.

Hence, The change in shape of the dough.
