Christmas is celebrated on the 25th of December each year. The festival celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. People decorate their homes and exchange presents. The Christmas tree is an important part of the festivities.  Each family sets up a tree at home and adds ornaments and sometimes even family trinkets to beautify it. The tree is also lit up. Gifts from the family members are arranged under the tree, to be opened on Christmas morning. It is believed that Santa Claus quietly comes by on Christmas eve (the 24th of December) and leaves more gifts for the children. It is also Santa's job to fill up the hanging Christmas stockings with goodies.
