Answers are as follows:

i) The average speed of the object is

a) 0.5 km/min

b) 1 km/min

c) 5 km/min

d) 2 km/min

Explanation:

  • Average speed = Total distance traveled/Total time taken

= Total distance traveled/Total time taken

= 15 + 0 + 15 - 20/20

  • I've taken (-20) as the distance traveled is now decreasing.

= 30 - 20/20

= 10/20

= 0.5 km/min

ii) The motion of the body is:

a) Uniform

b) Non uniform

c) Stationary

d) motion with decreasing speed

Explanation:

  • Clearly, as the body is covering unequal distance and in unequal time, the motion of the body is non uniform.

iii) The DE part of the graph indicates

a) Decreasing speed

b) uniform motion

c) object is at rest

d) non uniform motion of object

Explanation:

  • As, you can clearly notice the distance covered by the body is decreasing therefore, speed will also decrease & a sloping coming downwards indicates decreasing speed.

iv) Is the speed same in AB & CD. [Yes/No]

Explanation:

  • Speed at AB = 15/6 = 2.5 km/min
  • Speed at CD = 15/6 = 2.5 km/min

Therefore, speed at AB will be same as at CD.

v) Average speed of the object in section DE

a) 5 km/min

b) 10 km/min

c) 10/3 km/min

d) 3/10 km/min

Explanation:

  • Speed at DE = 20/6 = 10/3 km/min
