2x^3 - x^ 2 - 4x + 2 = 0

x^2(2x - 1) - 2(2x - 1) = 0

(x^2 - 2)(2x - 1) = 0

x^2 - 2 = 0

x^2 = 2

x =+\sqrt 2

2x - 1 = 0

2x = 1

x = 1/2

thus the roots are:

x = ± √2 , x = 1/2

hope it helps
