Consider an infinite thin plane sheet if positive charge with a uniform charge σ on both sides of the sheets. Let a point be at a distance from the sheet at which the electric field is required.
The guassian cylinder is of area of cross section A.
Electric flux crossing the gaussian surface,
ტ = E × 2A........ (i)
According to Gauss' s theorem,
q = σ A
Therefore, ტ = σ A/E^o...... (ii)
From equation (i) and (ii), we get:
E × 2A = σ A/E^0
E= σ /2 E^0
The direction of electric field foe positive charge is in tge outward direction and perpendicular to the plane of infinite sheet.
Directon of electic field for negative charge is in the inward direction and perpendicular to the sheet.
