when the temperature of a body is measured on both the Celsius and the Fahrenheit scales let the reading of c and F respectively then
$\frac{c - 0}{100} = \frac{f - 32}{180} \\ \frac{c}{5} = \frac{f - 32}{9} \\ c = \frac{5}{9} (f - 32) \\ f = \frac{9}{5} (c + 32)$
