of 3 boxes the first and second together contain rupees 400, II and III rupees 475 and the first and the third rupees 625 . find the amount in each Box .

Let box 1 = x

box 2 = y

box 3 = z

Then we have:

x + y = 400......(1)

y + z = 475.......(2)

x + z = 625......(3)

From equation (2)

z = 475 - y........(4)

Substitute equation (4) in eq (3)

x + z = 625

x + 475 - y = 625

x - y = 625 - 475

x - y = 150...(5)

Elimination method on eq (1) and (5)

x + y = 400

x - y = 150

x = 275

Substitute x = 275 in eq (1)

x + y = 625

y = 625 - 275

y = 350

Substitute y = 350 in eq (2)

y + z = 475

z = 475 - 350

z = 125
