Of a squirrel's hidden nuts, for every 5 that get found, there are 3 that do not get found. A squirrel hid 40 nuts altogether.
How many of the nuts do not get found?

Answer:

Let the ratio be x , then,

The ratio = 5:3

               = 5x : 3x

Sum = 5x + 3x

       = 8x

8x = 40

or x = 40/8

or x = 5

Ratio of nuts lost = 3x

Number of lost nuts  = 3 X 5

                                  = 15 nuts

 Thus, 15 nuts do not get found
