Question

Find the perimeter of triangle whose sides are 2x+5y,8x+6y,x-6y

Answer

Given :-

1st side : 2x+5y

2nd side : 8x+6y

3rd side : x-6y

To find :-

  • Perimeter : ??

Formula used :

Perimeter of triangle : Sum of all its side

According to the question,

Perimeter of triangle = Sum of all its side

= 2x+5y + 8x+6y + x-6y

= 2x + 8x + x + 5y + 6y - 6y

= 11x + 11y - 6y

= \fbox{11x - 5y}

.°. Perimeter of triangle is \sf{11x + 5y }

Answer:

Given Information:-

Sides of the triangle:-

  • 1st side = (2x + 5y) units
  • 2nd side = (8x + 6y) units
  • 3rd side = (x - 6y) units

To Find:-

Perimeter of the given triangle with the sides given.

We know

Perimeter of a triangle = Sum of all it's sides.

So, let's proceed! Since the sides are algebraic expressions, we have to add the like terms! That is, to simplify 'em.

.............

(2x + 5y) + (8x + 6y) + (x - 6y)

(Formed an expression as per the Perimeter formula)

2x + 5y + 8x + 6y + x - 6y

(Brackets are removed)

(2x + 8x + 1x) + [5y + 6y + (- 6y)]

(Separated the like terms in two brackets. 1st bracket only consists of x common terms and second, y common terms)

11x + (5y + 6y - 6y)

[(+) + (-) = (-)]

11x + 5y

(+ 6y and - 6y are cancelled \ ANSWER)

Required Answer:-

Therefore, perimeter of the ∆ is (11x + 5y).
