Respected teachers and staff, dear students

Being religious is a virtue. Patriotism is considered supporting one’s country. Having both these qualities is considered good trait. But what happens when these good traits are carried on to extreme levels and people resort to hooliganism, violence, rowdy and destructive behaviour?

This is what is ailing our country these days. Most often, demonstrations in the name of religion or patriotism ends up in violence and mayhem. Public property is destroyed and public put to inconvenience. Valuable man-hours are lost this way and property worth crores are destroyed. Is there any meaning for this? The only meaning it has and the message it conveys are that, both the perpetrators and the people who indulge in these unlawful activities, do not care for their country, people or for religious beliefs.

It is high time that people of our country, leaders especially, woke up to this fact and took stern measures against their followers, who resort to such meaningless, destructive activities.

The Police should also take an impartial view of such violent behaviour and book the people responsible, irrespective of which political party or religious faith they belong to.

It is my humble request to all my friends here, to take this matter seriously and spread the word. Let us be religious, let us be patriotic – but not at the cost of public or private property or inconveniencing the public.

Jai Hind!
