The required displacement is 15m.

Given: A block of mass 10 Kg is placed at a distance of 5 metres from the rear end of a long trolley as shown in the figure the coefficient of friction between the block and the surface below is 0.2 starting from the rest of the trolley is given a uniform acceleration of 3 metres per second square.

TO FIND The value of X that is the displacement.
SOLUTION:

As we are given,

Pseudo force on block F as given in the question= 10 × 3 = 30N

The frictional force on block f as given in the question

= mg

= 0.2 x 10 x 10 = 20N

As we know,

Acceleration of block concerning trolley

a = F - f/m

= 30 - 20/10

= 1 m/s square

Also, the time taken by block to fall off trolley is 't'

S = 1/2 at square

5 = 1/2 * 1 * t

t = Root 10 s

Therefore, Displacement of the trolley in Root 10 s,

15 metre.

Therefore, the displacement is 15 m.
