BMI is stand for body mass index it is a ratio of body weight in kg divided by the height in square in metre square it is calculated to know the the whether the person is healthy and fit

Body Mass  Index (BMI).  

Take the weight  of the person in kg. Then take the height in metres.  Divide the weight by the square of the height. if it  less than 18.5 then the person would be  considered undernourished. However, if this BMI is  more than 25, then a person is overweight.

it gives that a person is undernourished , normal or overweight .
