Correct Question :- Of the 24 students in Michelle’s homeroom, 2/3 of them rode the bus to school. How many students in Michelle’s homeroom rode the bus to school ?

Solution :-

Given that,

→ Total students in Michelle’s homeroom = 24 .

and, out of these 24 students , we have given that , (2/3) of them rode the bus to school.

So,

Total students who rode the bus to school = (2/3) of Total students in Michelle’s homeroom .

→ Total students who rode the bus to school = (2/3) of 24

→ Total students who rode the bus to school = (2/3) * 24

→ Total students who rode the bus to school = (2 * 24) / 3

→ Total students who rode the bus to school = (48/3) .

Now, we have to divide 48 by 3 :-

3 ) 48 (16

-3

18

-18

0

we get,

→ Quotient = 16

→ Remainder = 0 .

Therefore,

Total students who rode the bus to school = (48/3) .

→ Total students who rode the bus to school = 16 (Ans.)

Hence, 16 students in Michelle’s homeroom rode the bus to school .

[ Note :- if in question we have 2/4 of them rode the bus to school. Than, we know that, (2/4) is equal to (1/2) which is equal to half . So, Total students who rode the bus to school will be half of all 14 students which is 12 students . ]
