So … the remaining area besides the path is : (20-2)(20-2) as we exclude the lengths of the path

So area of the path is … = total area - area remaining besides path

That is = 20x20 - 18x18

= 76 m2
So cost of tilling the path is 50 for 1m2

So cost of tilling the path for 76m2 is = 50x76

= 3800
