oils(animal fats or ghee, etc) are unsaturated...hence double bonded
to reduce or convert them into single bonded saturated compounds, oils are hydrogenated.cuz trough hydrogenation we can covert a double bond to a single bond..by adding hydrogen content hence reducing the oxygen or carbon content.
PS:the whole is done as saturated is bad for health.
