The reasons for oil tanks are filled partially while transportation are :
- During transportation to avoid sloshing .
- Sloshing means any motion of the free liquid surface inside its container and it is caused by any disturbance to liquid containers .
- The sloshing in a moving liquid container causes saftey and comfort issues such as undesirable forces on brake system in liquid carrying tanks .
- Sloshing also causes unnecessary noises which is also referred to as "clinking noise ".
