Answer:
I was a small wheat seed. A farmer planted me and took care of me with the adequate nutrients and water. Within a few months’ time, I became a big wheat plant; slowly, my head and kernels began to appear. The farmer protected me from the pests and birds until I became strong enough to be harvested.
One day, the farmer harvested the entire farm and collected all my spikes in big sacks. After a few days, I was kept in a big truck and transported to a market. I waited for a long time to be purchased by someone. I craved to fill their stomach, to make them happy and strong. Every day, I saw people buy their essential commodities. Finally, the day came — a skinny man picked the sack wherein I was kept. I was filled with happiness as he paid for me. He took me home and kept me in the kitchen. Two days later, I was grounded into fine powder and stacked in a big jar.
Again, I waited patiently to be selected by someone. One day, the skinny man’s wife entered the storeroom and picked the jar that contained me. I was placed in a bowl — she added all required ingredients and turned me into a dough. Soon enough, I was transformed into a bread. I was excited to finally be on the dinner table. The entire family sat around the table and I waited to be consumed. Alas — when it was my turn, nobody was hungry anymore. I was thrown in the dustbin. That was how my journey came to a disappointing end.
When we waste food, we should pause and think for a moment. Think about the millions of people who are deprived of food. Remember, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan displayed compassion towards the needy. He was a pioneer in humanitarian work. Inspire and be inspired.
