The famele carry two - X Chromosomes. Female produces one type of gametes (eggs) with same type of chromosomes (22 + X). Male have one X and one Y chromosome. Among the gametes, half of the sperms carry X- Chromosome (22+X) and half carry. Y- Chromosome (22+Y). When a sperm carrying X- Chromosome fertilizes an egg, the zygote develops into female (XX condition). When sperm carrying Y- Chromosome fertilizes an egg, the zygote develops into a male (XX condition). Thus the chromosomes number of the sexually reproducing parents and their off sping is this same.

The DNA in the nucleus of a cell is the information source for making proteins. If the information is changed, different proteins will be made. The basic event in reproduction is the creation of a DNA copy. Cells use chemical reactions to build copies of their DNA. This creates two copies of the DNA in a reproducing cell and they need to get separated from each other. DNA copying is accompanied by the creation of an additional cellular apparatus, and then the DNA copies separate, each with its own cellular apparatus.

⭐In an organism each trait is regulated by genes which are not present as a single long thread of DNA, but as separate independent pieces, each called a chromosome. Thus, each cell will have two copies of each chromosome, one each from the male and female parents. Every germ-cell will take one chromosome from each pair and these may be of either maternal or paternal origin. When two germ cells combine, they will restore the normal number of chromosomes in the progeny, ensuring the stability of the DNA of the species.
