A volcano is an opening through the earth's
crust which allows hot and molten rocks, ash,
and gases to escape from below the surface.
Molten rocks are called magma when inside
the crust but once the magma comes out on
the surface of the earth, it is called lava. The
eruption can be quiet and gentle in which the
lava just flows out. However, it sometimes is
very violent and the lava comes out with an
explosion. This causes destruction around the
area in which the volcano is located.

Answer:

A volcano is a rupture in the crust of a planetary-mass object, such as Earth, that allows hot lava, volcanic ash, and gases to escape from a magma chamber below the surface. On Earth, volcanoes are most often found where tectonic plates are diverging or converging, and most are found underwater
