on a certain railway the first and second class fares are 7 paise pe km and 3 paise per km respectively. a man who travelled 100 km spent ₹3.40 in going part of distance by first class and then in second class. how many kilometres did he traveled in first clas?
Answers
AnswEr :
- 1st Class Fare = 7 paise per km
- 2nd Class Fare = 3 paise per km
- He travelled 100 km and spent on the journey Rs. 3.40 on both classes.
- Find km travelled in 1st Class?
First of all we will change all Amount in Paise, so that it will be easy to calculate.
↦ Amount = Rs. 3.40
↦ Amount = Rs. 3 + 40 Paise
- Rs. 1 = 100 Paise
↦ Amount = (3 × 100) Paise + 40 Paise
↦ Amount = 300 Paise + 40 Paise
↦ Amount = 340 Paise
Let the Distance Travelled in 1st Class be n km and, Distance Travelled in 2nd Class be (100 - n) km
• According to the Question Now :
⇒ Amount on (1st + 2nd)Class = 340 Paise
⇒ Dist.₁ × Rate₁ + Dist.₂ × Rate₂ = 340 Paise
⇒ (n × 7) + ((100 - n) × 3) = 340
⇒ 7n + 300 - 3n = 340
⇒ 4n = 340 - 300
⇒ 4n = 40
⇒ n = 40 /4
⇒ n = 10 km
∴ Therefore he travelled 10 km in 1st Class.
Question :----- we have to Find how many kilometres did he traveled in first class ????
Given :-------
- Fair of First class = 7 paise / km
- Fair of second class = 3 paise /km
- Total Distance Man cover = 100km
- Total Money he spent = ₹3.40
Required values in solution :-----
- ₹ 1 = 100 paise ,
than ₹3.40 = 3.40 × 100 = 340 paise
- Let he Travel in First class For = x km
Than he travel in second class = (100-x) km
Solution :--------
it is given that for 1 km First class Fair is = 7 paise
so, For x km Total fair will be = 7x paise
it is also given that for 1 km Second class fair is = 3 paise
so, for (100-x) km Total fair will be = 3(100-x) Paise .
Therefore ,
