on a circular track of diameter 200m A AND B STARTS RACE WITH A SPEED OF 5M/S AND 4M/S. RESPECTIVELY. THEN HOW MANY TIMES WILL THEY MEET UP ON STARTING POINTS IN 3 MINUTES

Distance = 200m


Find the time taken for A to cover 1 round:

Time = Distance ÷ Speed

Time = 200 ÷ 5 = 40s


Find the time taken for B to cover 1 round:

Time = Distance ÷ Speed

Time = 200 ÷ 4 = 50s


Find the LCM:

40 = 2³ x 5

50 = 2 x 5²

LCM = 2³ x 5² = 200s


Find the number of times they will meet at the starting point within 3 mins:

First time they will meet = 200s = 3 min 20 seconds

Since 3 min 20 seconds > 3 mins

⇒ They will not meet at the starting point in 3 mins


Answer: They will not meet each other at all in the 3 mins.
