Answer =4

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of cow be X

Therefore no of sheep = X+8

Since the no. Of cow is half then sheep Therefore no. COW=(8+X)/2

ATQ

(8+X)/2 =

x

8+X=2x

2x-x =8

X=8

Therefore no.of cow =x =8

Therefore no. Of sheep =(X+8)

=(8+8)

=16

Total no. Of animals = 16+8

=24

Although your question is incomplete, you may be referring to:

Write an expression for each statement to represent the quantity in terms of its context:

On a farm, the number of cows is 70 more than half the number of goats and sheep.

Given:

The number of cows is 70 more than half the number of goats and sheep

To Find:

An expression for this statement

Let us assume:

The number of sheep and goats = x

The number of cows = y

Solution:

  • To find the expression for the given statements we will follow these steps:

1. Find the expression for half the number of goats and sheep.

  • We have assumed the total number of sheep and goats to be x.
  • Half the number of goats and sheep = \frac{x}{2}

2. Find the expression for the number of cows.

  • We have assumed the number of cows to be y.
  • According to the question,

                                 ⇒ y = 70 + \frac{x}{2}

                                 ⇒ y = \frac{140 + x}{2}

                                 ⇒ 2y = 140 + x

Therefore, the expression is 2y = 140 + x.
