On a farm there are some goats and some hens. If the number of heads is32 and number of feet is 94, then the number of hens is

let there are x goat and y hens,. ie x+y=32 ie no of heads,. and 4x+2y=94 ie no of legs ,,,then multiply eqn 1 by 4 and subtract with 2 eqn whixh gives y=17ie no of hens are 17. and no of goat are 15

let no. of goats be 'x' and no. of hens be 'y'

no of heads = no. of goats + no. of hens = 32

i.e, x+y =32

no. of feets = 4*(no. of goats) + 2*(no. of hens) = 94

i.e, 4x + 2y = 94

on solving, we get y= 17 and x = 15

∴ no. of goats(x) = 15

no. of hens(y) = 17
