On a journey across Kolkata, a taxi averages 50 km per hour for 50% of the
distance. 40 km per hour for 40% of it and 20 km per hour for the remaining. The
average speed in km/ hour, for the whole journey is

lets assume 100 km as distance
1) 50% of 100 = 50km distance
50km/h = speed
2) 40% of 100= 40km distance
40km/h speed
3) 10% 0f 100 = 10km distance
20km/h is speed

now average speed= total distance / total time
and we know time=distance/speed

50+40+10/50/50+40/40+10/20
= 40
thank you :)

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

So the total distance of 100 km was covered in 2.5 hours, so the average speed is distance covered (km)/ total time (hr) = 100/2.5 = 40 kmph. The average speed was 40 kmph..
