On a map, 1 inch represents 20 miles. The distance between 2 towns is 6 1/5 inches. How many miles are actually between the two towns?

First simplify mixed fraction as

6 1 / 5 = 31/5 inches

Now in the map 1 inch represent 20 miles

Hence 31/5 inches will be represented for

31/5 × 20

= (31 × 20)/5

= 620/5

= 124 miles

6 1/5 inches will represent 124 miles as per nap scale, hence the distance between those two towns will be 124 miles.
