Hi,

In this case we have to find LCM of

three persons measure of steps

which indicates what is the minimum

distance each should walk so that

each can cover the same distance in

complete steps.

LCM of 40 cm , 42 cm , 45 cm,

5 l 40 , 42 , 45
_____________
2l 8 , 42 , 9
____________
2| 4 , 21 , 9
______________
3) 2 , 7 , 3

LCM = 5 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 4 × 7 × 3

= 2520

after 2520cm they can cover the same distance .

I hope this helps you.

Answer:

We have to find the LCM of 40 cm, 42 cm and 45 cm

Steps measure 40 cm, 42 cm and 45 cm respectively.

Finding LCM individualy

⇒ 40 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 5

⇒ 42 = 2 × 3 × 7

⇒ 45 = 3 × 3 × 5

Total LCM

⇒ LCM (40, 42, 45) = 2 × 3 × 5 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 7

⇒ LCM (40, 42, 45) = 30 × 12 × 7

⇒ LCM (40, 42, 45) = 210 × 12

⇒ LCM (40, 42, 45) = 2520

Minimum distance of each person should walk is 2520 cm.
