ANSWER:

Given:

  • Sale of Chocolate ice cream = Rs 160
  • Sale of Vanilla ice cream = Rs 80
  • Sale of Butterscotch ice cream = Rs 60
  • Sale of Fruit ice cream = Rs 60

To Find:

  • Central angle of each flavour

Solution:

We are given that sale(in Rs) of different flavours of ice creams of a shop are-

  • Chocolate = 160
  • Vanilla = 80
  • Butterscotch = 60
  • Fruit = 60

Now, we need to find the central angle of each flavour, when the data is represented in a pie chart.

First of all, we'll understand what a central angle is. Central angle is the angle, that any entity has in the pie chart.

Formula for Central Angle = [(Quantity of entity)/(Total of Quantities)] × 360°

Total of Quantities = 160 + 80 + 60 + 60 = 240 + 120 = 360

So,

Central Angle for the given data = [(Quantity of entity)/360] × 360°

Hence,

Central Angle for the given data = (Quantity of entity)°

Now, we'll calculate the central angle for each given flavour.

So,

  • Central Angle for sale of Chocolate ice cream = (160)° = 160°
  • Central Angle for sale of Vanilla ice cream = (80)° = 80°
  • Central Angle for sale of Butterscotch ice cream = (60)° = 60°
  • Central Angle for sale of Fruit ice cream = (60)° = 60°

Hence, central angles for sales of Chocolate, Vanilla, Butterscotch and Fruit ice cream are 160°, 80°, 60° & 60° respectively.

Formula Used:

  • Central Angle = [(Quantity of entity)/(Total of Quantities)] × 360°
