Given : On a piston of 10 cm diameter a force of 1000 N is uniformly applied

To find : the pressure on the piston

Solution:

Pressure = Force / Area

Force = 1000 N

Diameter = 10 cm

Radius =  5 cm  = 5/100   = 1/20   m

Area  = πr²  = 3.14 * ( 1/20)²  =  7.855/1000  m²

Pressure = Force / Area

= 1000 / (7.855/1000)

=  1000/ 7.855    KN/m²

= 127.307 KN/m²

the pressure on the piston   = 127.307 KN/m²
