$\frac{8}{13} of \: the \: total \: were \: absent$

$hence \: \: 1 - \frac{8}{13} were \: present$

$= \frac{5}{13}$

number of students present = 15

$\frac{5}{13} \times x = 15$

(considering the total number of students to be x)

$5x = 15 \times 13$

$x = \frac{15 \times 13}{5}$

x = 39

Therefore the total class strength is 39 students
