So,100-94 = 6 percent of them were absent.

Let 'x' be the total number of students.

6x/100=174.
3x/50=174.
3x=50(174).
3x=8700.
x=8700/3.
x=2900.

94*2900/100=2726.

Therefore, 2726 students were present on the rainy day and the total strength is 2900.
