Due to the presence of oil on water surface a thin film is formed over water.


This is the reason why when the beams of light fall upon the oil layer, it undergoes numerous reflections at different layers of the water.


Each reflected rays tend to interfere with the other and interference takes place resulting on the angle of the reflection different colour hues are produced.
