On a see saw, two children of masses 30kg and 60kg are sitting on one side of it at a distance of 2m and 2.5m respectively from the centre of the see saw. Find the distance at which a man of mass 75 kg should sit on the other side to balance the see saw.

Answer:

2.8m

Explanation:

let let the 75kg man sit at a distance of X metre from the middle of the seesaw.

according according to principle of moments

anticlockwise moment = clockwise moments.

=> ( 60kgf * 2.5m ) +( 30kgf * 2m )= 75kgf * Xm

=>150kgfm + 60kgfm = 75 kgfm

=> 210kgfm = 75 kgfm

=>X m = 210kgfm / 75 kgf

=>X m= 2.8 m.

therefore the distance at which a man of mass 75 kg should sit on the other side of the SeeSaw to balance it is 2.8m
