Area of square - area of 9 circles

Ar of square = side X side = 42 * 42 cm = 1764 cm sq

Ar of one circle = Pie r^2 = 22/7 * 7 * 7 = 22 * 7 = 154 cm sq

Such 9 circles are there so area of all 9 = 154 * 9 = 1386 cm sq


Area of remaining portion = ar of square - ar of 9 circles = 1764 - 1386 = 378 cm sq
