On a track of lenght 100km, the train covers first 30km with a constant speed of 30kmh-1 .What should be the speed of the train for the next 70km so that the average speed of the train remains 50kmh-1 for the entire trip?

average time = total distance / average speed = 100 km / 40 km/h = 2.5 hr

for travelling 30 km train travelled with a speed of 30 km/h. So it took 1 hr.

So the remaining 70 km is travelled in 1.5 hr

therefore, train speed in the other 70km travel = distance / time = 70 km / 1.5 h

= 46.67 km/h
