On a train journey, there are 5 kinds of tickets, AC1, AC2, AC3, 3-tier and general.  the relationship between the rates of tickets for Eurail is:  AC2 is  20% higher than AC3,  while AC1 ticket price is higher than AC2 ticket price by 70% of AC3 ticket’s value.  the 3- tier ticket is 25% of the AC1’s  ticket cost and the general ticket is 1/3rd  the price of AC2 ticket.  the AC2 ticket costs 780 euros between London and Paris.  the difference in the rates of 3-tier and general ticket between the same two stations is

Answer:

48.75 euros

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us assume that the prices of 5 kinds of the ticket are given by

AC1 ticket=x euros

AC2 ticket=y euros

AC3 ticket=z euros

3-Tier ticket=p euros

and, general ticket=q euros

Now, 4 conditions are given, from which we can write

y =1.2 z ( y is 20% higher than z) ...... (1)

x-y =0.7z ( x is higher than y by 70% of z) ..... (2)

p =0.25x ( p is 25% of x) ....... (3)

and, q =y/3 ( q is 1/3 rd of y) ....... (4)

Also, given that, y = 780 euros

We have to find the value of (p-q).

Now, from (1), z=y/1.2

z=780/1.2=650 euros ..... (5)

Now, from (2) and (5) we get

x=0.7z+y

⇒ x=0.7(650)+780

x= 1235 euros ....(6)

Now, from (3) and (6) we get.

p =0.25x

p= 308.75 euros ...... (7)

Now, from (4) ew get

q = y/3

q = 780/3 = 260 euros. ..... (8)

Hence, from (7) and (8) we get,

p-q =  308.75-260

p-q = 48.75 euros
