GIVEN:-

  • on a tree there were 482 mangoes if 298 were ripe how many were raw.

TO FIND:-

  • No.of raw mangoes.

SOLUTION:-

Hey mate! first see your question concept which is telling that there is a mango tree on which there are 482 mangoes.

Now if our of those 482 , 298 are ripe mangoes then how many are raw.

So see as we know the total number of mangoes and no.of ripe mangoes we can easily find raw mangoes by the process of subtraction.

  • Total mangoes-ripe mangoes=raw mangoes

  • =>482-298=raw mangoes

  • =>184=raw mangoes.

Hey mate number of raw mangoes are 184.

Hey mate! Now you must be thinking how we knew that here subtraction would only work!?

  • so this is because if we go through the question well we find that the total mangoes have been derived into two parts.

RAW ; RIPE

  • where we got the ripe mangoes quantity hence if we add the two numbers that are given our and would reach more than the total number of mangoes.

  • hence,To make it compatible we subtracted them.

VERIFYING:-

  • 184+298=482

  • =>482=482

  • =>1=1

hence proved!

Hope it helped!
