on abalysis a certain compound was found to contain iodin and oxygen in the ratio of 254 g of iodine and 80 g of oxygen then formula of compound

no. of moles of iodine= wt / Mw = 254 / 127 = 2 moles
no. of moles of oxygen = wt / Mw = 80 / 16  = 5 moles

therefore formula of compound is I2O5
