Sir,

Please permit me to bring to the notice of the transport authorities of the State, the bad condition of the local bus service in our town.

The bus service in this town has been going from bad to worse for the last six months or so. In fact, it was never satisfactory. But recently it has crossed all the limits of tolerance. First of all, the number of buses is very small. The population of our town has been increasing rapidly. But the number of buses has remained unchanged for the last so many years. While the fares have been going up, the difficulties of the public have been increasing.

I would request the General Manager to travel on a bus sometimes and see for himself how the passengers have to suffer. The overcrowding has reached a point of suffocation. People at the bus-stops have to wait because the buses come overloaded from the previous Stops.

The conductors have also become rude because of such crowds. There is much pushing and jostling by the people trying to come in or go out of the buses at various stops. Students and office-goers are, particularly in trouble. They cannot reach their destinations punctually. Many of them can often be seen running after the buses or hanging on to the foot-boards.

I hope that the authorities would look into the matter before there is some violent agitation. The people are really sick of the local bus service.
