Given : on applying the pressure on a sphere by 20 x 10 ⁵ Pa, its volume decreased by 0.1%.

To Find : The bulk modulus of the material of sphere

Solution:

B= Pressure Applied / Fraction change in Volume

=> B = ΔP/(ΔV/V)

B: Bulk modulus

V = Initial Volume

ΔP = change in pressure / Pressure applied

ΔV = Change in Volume

ΔP = 20 x 10⁵ Pa

volume decreased by 0.1%

=> ΔV/V = 0.1%  = 0.001

=> B =  20 x 10⁵ /0.001

=> B = 20 x 10⁸  N/m²

Question:

On applying the pressure on a sphere by 20x10 (raised to 5)Pa , its volume decreased by 0.1%. The bulk modulus of the material of spere is -:

Answer:

 \tt \: B =  \frac{ Pressure  \: applied  }{  fraction  \: change \:  in  \: volume }

 \tt \: B =  \frac{ ΔP }{ \frac{ ΔV }{  V }    }

B = Bulk Modulus

V = Initial Volume

 \tt \triangle P =  \frac{change \: in \: pressure}{ pressure \: applied}

 \tt \triangle V = change \: in \: volume

 \tt \triangle P = 20 \times 1 {0}^{5}  \: pa

Volume decreased by 0.1%.

 \tt \ \frac { \triangle V}{V} = 0.1\% = 0.001

 \tt \: B  =  \frac{20 \times  {10}^{5} }{0.001}

 \tt \: B = 20 \times  {10}^{8}   \: \frac{n}{ {m}^{2} }
