Given:

Pressure applied on the sphere= 2×10⁵ Pa

Percentage decrease in volume = 0.1%

To find:

The bulk modulus of the material of sphere.

Solution:

The relation between volume, pressure and bulk modulus of a material is given as:

β= - VdP/ dV

On putting the values we get:

= V×2×10⁵/ (0.1V/100)

= 2×10⁵/ (0.1/100)

= 2×10⁵/ 0.001

= 2×10⁸Pa

Therefore, the bulk modulus of the material of the sphere is 2×10⁸Pa.
